Coach Kosta Papastergiou

Coach Papastergiou has enjoyed being a student of the game for his entire life.  Dribbling a ball around the house and dunking on toy hoops at the age of five, he knew he was destined to fall in love with basketball. At a young age, he learned that perfecting his craft and achieving excellence would only come through countless hours of hard work, effort, practice, and dedication to being great.

He grew up in Great Falls, Virginia where he played for several teams throughout his playing career. Starting off in the local house and select leagues, he managed to work his way up to playing for numerous AAU teams throughout the DMV area. He went on to attend Langley High school where he was a 4-year player and achieved 4 District Titles along with a Regional Title runner- up honor. While playing in high school, he also played for a very competitive church league known as GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth Association). He managed to eclipse the 1,000-point scoring mark in his junior season all while averaging 27.0 PPG and leading Saint Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church to 3 GOYA league championships throughout his career. Coach Papastergiou attended Randolph- Macon College where he played his freshman season before deciding to transfer home to George Mason University to pursue a degree in business management and administration.

Despite playing in a few local competitive men’s leagues, he has realized that his best playing days may be behind him, and that it is time to filter his knowledge and experience and give back to the youth and community. He has been coaching for two years in the SRRBBL league where his team the Raptors have accumulated two winning seasons and have made deep playoff runs. Along with coaching the Raptors, he was awarded the honor of coaching the all-star team to a victory in this past playing season.

Coach Kosta comes to the Loudoun Rebels program with a commitment to excellence. His passion for the game and children is displayed through his passionate coaching style and technique. He is a firm believer in the Rebels mission statement, and wants to encourage the thrill of playing competitive basketball, along with focusing on developing the children into the best possible players that they can be. He is all about winning and success and will do whatever it takes to achieve the individual player and team goals.
